Ogilvy promotes Yong Yuan to President of Shanghai Office as Joe Yu takes on new role

Ogilvy China announced two new appointments as of January 1. Yong Yuan will be the new President of Ogilvy’s Shanghai office, and Joe Yu will take on the job of President of the Public Relations & Influence Capability of Ogilvy China. Debby Cheung is retiring from both positions after over 25 years with the company.

Both Yuan and Yu have served as Group Managing Directors for Ogilvy, Yuan in Shanghai, and Yu in Beijing. Yu will continue on in that role as well.

Scott Kronick, Chief Executive, Asia, Public Relations & Influence, said, “Joe Yu is the natural successor to run our public relations capability in China. He combines strategic capabilities with hands-on leadership, while also having a deep understanding of the role of influence and its importance to the success of businesses today and tomorrow. We will miss Debby, but have nurtured a very strong leader in Joe over the past 20 years.”

Cheung will stay on with Ogilvy as a senior advisor. “Debby has led a long and impactful career with Ogilvy and I, along with all of my colleagues wish her all the best in her next chapter,” says Chris Reitermann, Chief Executive, Asia & Greater China.
